My favorite activity as a child was doll collecting.
Tuesday, November 20th, 2007It started when my grandmother bought me a porcelain doll for Christmas when I was six years old. I am now sixty-six, and I am still doing it. Doll collecting was one of my favorite activities as a child, but the interest didn’t disappear when I became an adult. If anything, I became more interested in it. After that first doll, I was addicted. I asked my parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles to get me dolls for Christmas and my birthday. I saved up my allowance to buy dolls. I babysat to earn enough money to buy dolls. When I went away to college, I left my doll collection at my parents’ home. Each time I came home to visit, I would have a few more dolls to add to the collection. When I began working as a nurse, I would buy at least one doll each time I received my paycheck. I still buy dolls to this day.
