Ages ago nomads were the first to create pile rugs. These rugs were invented to add warmth and comfort to their homes. As the practice expanded, it became imperative for the carpets to have beautiful designs and patterns on them. Mostly rugs are made of wool as they are much more comfortable than cotton or silk. Wool area rugs become sophisticated with the passage of time but the basic theory remains same- to be comfortable. Handmade rugs are better than the machine made wool area rugs because they last longer as each knot has been manually done. The handmade rugs also are environment-friendly.
