how do i disassemble the bakers rack i purchased from Costco 5 years ago?

i purchased a bakers rack from costco 5 years ago & when i assembled it i made it all one, tall rack. now i want to split it into 2 pieces but can;t get the connecting legs to come apart. any suggestions? serious answers please. thanks.
i tried a hammer & got the shelf off, but there are legs stuck into each other- do i have to use a flathead screwdriver to pry them apart?

      If you want to try a hammer, hold a piece of scrap wood where you are aiming your taps so that the hammerhead doesn’t damage the wood.
