Is it a good idea to get a Costco card if you’re a small family?

Will I save money buying some products at costco? I was thinking it would be a good idea to buy things we use a lot of like shampoo, granola bars, mayo, etc. What do you think?

I think it will save you money if you use the stuff.

Also maybe take a friend and split some of the larger food items.

They also have good deals on other things that are not sold in bulk.

Yeah i would say that’s a good idea. My family is only 3 people, and we shop there all the time. so go for it.

yes! it is a great idea! you get so much use out of it! around the holidays you can get christmas cards online and buy things cheap! my nephew wanted a fly top pen at target it was $150 for everything and at costco it was only $99.99!!! We saved sooo much! it even came with a game, unlike target!

It’s just me and my husband and we love shopping there. It saves us so much money, the only thing I’d say is to make sure you have a lot of freezer and pantry space. We have a large walk-in pantry and a second freezer. When I bring meat home, I separate it into smaller amounts for us to use for meals.

I shop at costco all the time. I have a large family, however
Some items can be bought in bulk even for small family. cases of canned goods 6, 8 or 12 (depending on product) cans of soup.
shake & bake in packs of 8.
      Pasta sauces in 3 packs
Butter by the pound (great bargain)
      All beef weiners 3 pack
      bread 2 loafs

      Also other savings
Books current releases cheaper than any book store
      Clothing for younger children
      P.Js
      Coats and hoodies good deals
      Seasonal toys
      giftware and seasonal household goods

      Household products
      Lightbulbs
      laundry soap
      household cleaners

Yes definately get the card and the exec. card if you can pays you back 2% of what you spend each year.

I get my son’s snacks there, diapers, etc. Hamburger is a good deal. They have the big package that is already separated into 1 pound balls so all you have to do is place it in a freezer bag or if you have a food sealer (NEVER buy the black & Decker one) it will last for up to 2 years properly sealed.

      yesss.
Costco is a great place to shop. Big or small family.
We are a family of three, and shop there all the time.
It usually saves us a lot of money, especially when buying
      large amounts of things.
(plus they have good samples) ;]

I have a Costco card and it’s just for my husband and I. We buy everything there because sometimes you can find really great deals. I buy everything there from my shampoo to the frozen vegetables.

yes, i believe its a great idea
my family doen’t have 1, but lots of my friends do, and they save lots of trips to the grocery store, because costco has just about everything
it may be bit expensive for the card but u quickly make that $$ back with the low prices of the products
plus u save time by not having 2 b a coupon clipper like my mom

    10. EnglandSk8erGirl Says:

      Yes,
My parents each have a Costco Card and it is very useful, since we are only a family of four. Our family may be small, but it minimizes long, gruling, annoying, time-costing, trips to the local grocery stores. We save money and it is good to have something extra just in case you run out. the prices, though many critics say they are just the same prices as ones at the grocery stores, but you will be getting more for less. It may be costly to get the card, but it all works out in the end. There is only one bill you pay and you get money off of gas, sometimes more than you might get at a regular store or gas station. Also, the more items you purchase at Cosco, the more money you get off of items!Say buh-bye to cupon clipping and, “Its not on sale”, or “No way! At those prices?!?!?!?!”. Plus, they have really good food samples and will let you go back for seconds. Yum!

    11. Comp U Says:

Have you seen the size of their mayo ???

If this is your first foray into Costco, you will not save money.
You will overspend — it’s kinda like the chocolate factory in Willy Wonka — fascination hits you upon entry. “Everything” is a good buy, even the stuff you don’t need.
You will overbuy goodies, your family will overeat these goodies.
Careful shopping here can save you some money
However, I often find that keeping on eye on local store ad’s and stocking up(not bulking up w/Costco purchase) can save you a bit more, and better help you manage your pantry space.

I do find some great prices of some non-food items
However, for me it’s kind of a wash.

$50.00 for the year — I’d give it a try to see if it works for you.
Better yet, go with someone who has a card, as a visitor. Enter with as practical a mindset as you can, and make a judgment whether the $50.00 lay-out would be worth it.

If you do decide to jump in — clear the pantry (and find other free space) — the big stuff is coming.
