If you want to make a good home theater system, short of buying an actual film reel projector and silver plated screens, you have a few options- namely plasma tv and lcd tv technology. LCDs can be quite cost effective- but only for the smaller sets. They are quite inferior in most respects to plasma tv sets, though they are still quite good. In large setups such as in home theaters, a plasma tv would be the best choice hands down. Not only would they deliver superior performance, and wider optimal viewing angles, they are quite cost effective at bigger sizes.
